Version 0.9 • 16 October 2026
1. Carrier Documents
Collect active USDOT/MC authority when applicable; certificate of insurance; applicable commercial auto liability and motor truck cargo coverage; equipment/driver credentials; W-9; safety and contact details. Verify with reliable sources and request direct insurer confirmation for high-risk accounts.
2. Roadside/Towing Documents
Collect business and driver licenses, tow permits, commercial auto, general liability, on-hook/garagekeepers where applicable, workers compensation when required, and locksmith credentials for locksmith work.
3. No Universal Coverage Guarantee
Required coverage varies by jurisdiction, vehicle, operations and contractual risk. Counsel and licensed insurance professionals must set actual minimum limits, additional insured provisions and endorsements; the Platform must not claim all providers are fully insured merely because a certificate was uploaded.
4. Renewal Monitoring
Maintain credential expiration dates, reminders, manual review flags, account holds for lapsed critical coverage, audit logs and a process to dispute incorrect status.
5. Regulatory Review
Before launch, assess FMCSA broker authority/bond and 49 CFR Part 371, carrier regulations, state towing and locksmith laws, privacy/biometrics/location consent, auto-renewal, payment facilitation and consumer protection.
Updated Marketplace Business Model — October 2026
Regulatory Scope
Shippers and carriers retain responsibility for applicable transportation authority and insurance. Roadside providers retain responsibility for towing, roadside-service, vehicle, worker, and local licensing and insurance. Counsel must verify whether any platform activity constitutes regulated brokerage, dispatching, or payment services despite its intended marketplace role.
